This is a contemporary painting by Canadian artist, Anne-Marie Olczak. Inspired by the saturated and nostalgic colours of the 1970s distilled through the compositional structure of grids and planes, this artwork is part of Anne-Marie’s Kodachrome Colour Series.
“There was a school trip to Maple Leaf Gardens to see the circus. I was 5 and very small and somehow got separated from my class. This is the colour of being lost, being found. The colour of the spectacle, the colour of safety: darker and saturated. I don’t remember fear, I just remember wonder and warmth.”
